Great Turnout at Annual Talent Show and Chinese Auction

Proceeds Were Awarded to a Riverhead Charter School Family Who Lost Child

Calverton N.Y., June 6, 2016 – Riverhead Charter School held its annual talent show and Chinese auction on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the school “gymnatorium”. The goal of the event was to raise funds to help a Riverhead Charter School family who suffered the unspeakable tragedy of losing a child.

The show featured 25 student performances, one group performance, a dance team performance and a staff act. Furthermore, this year’s Chinese auction was one of the largest in the school’s history, with over a dozen baskets and tons of gift cards donated by school supporters, local businesses and parents.

“It was a fun evening where everyone in the audience enjoyed a variety of amazing performances,” says Raymond J. Ankrum, executive director and principal of Riverhead Charter School. “Most importantly, it was for a worthwhile course – the opportunity to honor one of our students and help his family through this difficult time. In addition, Chinese auction would not have been a success without the help of the parents who were very passionate about the cause.”

“We were proud of our students who did an amazing job showcasing their talents and creativity at the show,” says Ms. Cupolo 2nd Grade teacher. “I am glad they had a chance to become stars for a night and entertain their family, friends and neighbors, which we will help them grow, build confidence and achieve their potential in the future.”
