At RCS, parents are essential stakeholders of our educational program.  From time to time, a parent will go above and beyond for the students of RCS, in which case we want to celebrate these parents.  Each month we’ll look to highlight a parent that goes above and beyond for our students.

Interview with Mrs. Bruno

Why Riverhead Charter School?bruno
My oldest son has been here since Kindergarten; he is now in 4th grade. I wanted a different type of education for him, more personalized.  I didn’t want him to be lost in a larger school setting.   I like that Spanish classes are offered beginning in Kindergarten and the longer school day.  It is great to see how well the staff works together.
Being an involved parent….
My son struggles in school and as a parent it is important to show that I am invested in his interests and his school.
Getting more parents involved…It is important to find out parent’s strengths and inform parents of the needs of the school. Many parents have busy schedules, possibly holding virtual meetings.
Thank you, Mrs. Bruno for all that you do!!!!

Mrs. Cote

Mrs. Cote grew up in a very artistic family who coteencouraged her at an early age to create her own projects.  As it was her aspiration to become an art teacher she majored in sculpture and painting at SUNY Purchase.  Mrs. Cote has served as a visiting artist in the Bronx, taught various college courses and is currently the Director of Education at the Watermill Center.  She is dedicated to sharing her love of art with Riverhead Charter School and the surrounding community.  We look forward to many collaborations in the future.
