COVID-19 Updated May 2020
It was announced on May 1, by Governor Andrew Cuomo that New York State schools will remain closed through the end of the 2019-20 school year. This announcement was not easy but it’s for the safety and well being of our students, staff and communities are paramount.
We will continue our on-line learning program throughout the remainder of the school year uninterrupted. Our teachers, school administrators and support staff will continue their relentless commitment to our student’s success. Please remember to keep up to date with Remind/Class Dojo for important communications and helpful resources
Thank you and stay safe!

Career Day at RCS – May 20th, 2020
This year Riverhead Charter School will be hosting a Career Day for our
students in 3rd-8th grades, and we need your help. The goal of Career Day is to
help our students:
Develop an awareness of the world of work
Gain exposure to different types of career options
Understand the importance of discovering one’s passion & interests
Community Day – April 17, 2020
On April 17, 2020, Riverhead Charter School will be hosting a Community Day for families who are a part of our school and community. The purpose of Community Day is to bring resources to RCS families in a familiar setting where their questions and answers can be met. What we are finding is many of our students and families are not involved in various community events/activities because they are unaware of the resources that are available to them. Our vision is to see family’s needs met by way of resources provided throughout their community. This in turn will assist them with building stronger relationships and increase their community engagement.
This event is free for your company as well as our families. RCS invites you or a representative to participate in Community Day and encourage applications/pamphlets or marketing materials that will be informative to our students and families.
If you have any questions in the meantime or would like to discuss this event, please contact Chivaun Carter or Cynthia Gaie, Social Work Team, at (631) 369 -5800 x2251/2234.
We hope you can join us.

RCS Bus of the Month
Dear RCS Families,
The month of the February Bus Of The Month program has officially come to an end. We remain encouraged at the positive impact this program has made on our students and the continued improvement in bus safety at RCS. We want to thank our parents for working with their children on understanding the importance of bus safety and prioritizing appropriate bus behavior .
We are pleased to announce that the February Bus Of The Month goes to Riverhead Bus 140. Mrs. Michelle Spano Diming has done an exceptional job getting our students to and from school in a safe and proper manner. She is not only an amazing bus driver, but a proud parent in the RCS community! We would also like to recognize our B.O.M honorable mentions Riverhead 152/115 and East Moriches Bus for their display of exceptional behavior and kindness on the school bus. Keep up the great work and continue to lead by example! Lastly, we have decreased our total amount of bus referrals from 21 in January to 19 in February While we continue to trend in the right direction, our goal is to continue to shrink that number each month. Good luck to all buses and bus drivers this March.
Sincerely,
The RCS Team
